Skincare Digest exists because most beauty coverage is shaped, directly or indirectly, by the companies whose products it describes. We wanted something different: a magazine that buys what it tests, at full price, from ordinary retail shelves, and reports back without owing anyone anything.
Every product we cover is purchased anonymously, the way any shopper would buy it, whether that means a quick stop at a drugstore counter or an order placed online. We do not accept free samples for review, and we do not accept paid placement of any kind. No brand can buy a favorable mention, a higher ranking, or a mention at all. If a product does not perform, we say so. If it performs beautifully, we say that too, and neither outcome is for sale.
Our goal is simple: to give readers across the United States a source of comparative testing they can actually rely on, written by people who have no financial stake in what you decide to buy.
How Findings Are Reviewed
Before any comparative result is published, it is reviewed by a small standing committee that includes a dermatologist, a biochemist with a background in topical formulation science, and a second dermatologist with clinical research experience in skin aging and cosmetic treatments. This committee does not test products itself; its role is to check that our testing methods are sound, that our conclusions are supported by what we actually observed, and that nothing in our language overstates what a product can do. Their sign-off is a quality check, not an endorsement, and it carries no financial relationship to any brand or product discussed.
Corrections and Reader Input
We get things wrong sometimes, and we would rather hear about it than not.
